Jarmila Kralova art work has many dimensions; from poetic landscapes to abstract forms. For her earlier work is characteristic using of abstract forms and colors are not significant. Lately she developed her own vision of using colors, which are very bright. Abstract forms are based on geometric matter. All her artwork is reflection of her inner journey.

Why do I love the paintings of Jarmila Králová?

They won me over at once. Each of them is not only a picture full of settled calm, but beneath that calm an urgent question appears. A philosophical question that lay hidden within us, waiting for our answer.

Each of these paintings asks us something and helps us search for the answer too — for what is concealed within it. In them I also feel the painter's own experience from her journey towards knowledge in Eastern lands and in her personal life. For me they are filled with a further, invisible dimension. Calm, but not static. They are alive. That is why I love them.

A day of painting with Jarmila

It took place on a wintry February Sunday above the Vltava valley. I arrived deep in a plunge into myself and into my present pain over my relationship with my daughter, which had reached a crisis. Because it is my nature to seek understanding, truth and a way out in difficult situations, I was fully open to the impressions that came to me in the studio.

I met with gentleness, colour and beauty. With openness and femininity, and not least with the healing effect of Jarmila and the group. And, of course, with my own creating. Thanks to all of this, something in me ripened that day, connected together, and when the seminar ended I left the little creative group with a feeling of joy and lightness — and with two paintings. One made with my own hands and one I bought, which spoke to me during the closing technique and from which, even now, joy and trust breathe over me: trust that at the end of the crisis my daughter and I will meet in a truer embrace and a more loving relationship.
